While searching for new foundation today, I stumbled across a cosmetic line called shu uemura. I have difficult skin to match, because of the glorious red cheeks and the "cute" freckles, and the gal at Nordstrom just didn't get it right.... so, at 8:30pm, I swung on down the hill to Southcenter (aka Westfield Shopping Town) to have my color matched by the counter's manager.
Turns out the line's manager is a gal I went to high school with, and while she was matching my tone, I was thinking to myself about how different it is to see someone 12 years after the last time you did, and how much some of us change, and how much some of us don't. From one 30 year old to another, I'm sure neither one of us looked the same, but in my mind's eye I still see her with her layered chestnut hair framing her face, her colored t-shirt under her overalls, or the tighter black denim jeans, or the baggy denim... any one of those popular trends that phased in and out- and back in again now!- over the last 12 years... As I was looking at her now, hair colored to beautifully compliment her skin, the trendy-chic all black that they wear at the cosmetic counters at Nordstrom, I couldn't help but wonder if she still saw me in my 501's and athletic t-shirts. (oh, wait, what am I wearing after work? Jeans and a t-shirt!)
Maybe it was a little odd for me because I didn't go to my 10 year reunion, so I didn't really see everyone after we all "grew up".
After catching up, which was great, we did find a foundation that I'm pretty sure will work- we'll see. I've been using MAC and Philosophy for SOOO long! I'll let you know how it goes.
